Conclusions were disheartening:</p> <ul> <li>$615 million loss in state economic activity</li> <li>3,400 jobs lost by 2015</li> <li>loss of $18.5 million in state tax revenue</li> <li>higher prices for consumers</li> </ul> <p>Doesn't sound good for egg producers and low-income consumers, does it? Yet it had no problem getting on this November's ballot: HSUS reports that <a href="http://www.hsus.org/press_and_publications/press_releases/casignatures022808.html">790,486 Californians signed petitions</a> in support of this ballot initiative.<br></p> <p>If the dire implications of the study are true, why would so many people -- especially in today's economy -- willingly sign such petitions?</p><p>Could it be that egg producers are suffering from some sort of <a href="http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&amp;q=battery+cage&amp;btnG=Search+Images&amp;gbv=2">image problem</a>?<br></p><p><br>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><br><img src="http://wwww.naiaonline.org/aggbug.aspx?PostID=89" width="1" height="1">Yossarianhttp://wwww.naiaonline.org/members/Yossarian.aspx
